This beautiful tweedy bird (28cm in height) sculpture has been handmade in Rogart in the Highlands of Scotland by artist Mairi Hedges. Each has been made entirely from foraged materials on Mairi’s own croft and comes with its own handwritten story included below…
“We have a lot of hens on the croft. They are very inquisitive and into everything! These birds are made from tweed selvedge that I found in a local second-hand shop. They are stuffed with homegrown wool. Their beaks are carved from croft-grown wood. Their eyes are vintage glass beads. Their legs are made from recycled wire covered with paper tape drawn on with an ink pen.”
