Our Atelier

In a 200-year-old stone cottage at the heart of the farm, you'll find our working wool studio. This is where each Future Vintage piece begins to take shape being designed, knitted, linked, and finished by hand.

The atelier houses our handmade Scottish loom, heritage Dubied knitting machines, and an old restored linker that rhythmically chinks (or clunks!) in the corner. There’s a fire to keep us warm on colder days, a big table for laying out ideas, and shelves filled with our seasonal collection—alongside pieces from my mum’s textile collection, which continues to inspire the work we do here.

Our doors are often open on Saturdays - the sign will be out front , or you’re welcome to book an appointment for a quieter visit. We also run small, seasonal experiences—farm walks, wool talks, and fireside making sessions.

Future Vintage Farm Experience

Our Future Vintage Farm Experiences are designed to offer a genuine taste of Scottish textile tradition and farming culture. Nestled just outside Edinburgh, overlooking the historic Loch and Linlithgow Palace, Bonnytoun Farm gives curious visitors a chance to meet our beautiful pedigree Shetland sheep and discover how their fleece is transformed into heritage knitwear—crafted with care, and rooted in place.

Join Lindsay for a morning or afternoon on the farm, travelling by buggy up to the high fields to meet the flock. Depending on the season, you might see new lambs skipping through the grass, newly shorn sheep, or fleeces in full bloom—each one holding the promise of our next collection.

Back down at our 200-year-old stone woolery, settle in by the fire with refreshments from Grow Wild, our organic food shop next door. Share stories, ask questions, and follow the journey from fleece to finished piece. You can watch our tiny team of hand-makers at work, browse the full collection, and—if you're curious—try your hand at some of the traditional techniques yourself.

Our knitwear is more than just made in Scotland—it's of Scotland. Every piece begins in these fields and carries with it the texture, tone, and quiet resilience of the landscape it came from.

Whether you're a guide seeking something authentic for your guests or a traveller looking for a truly Scottish experience just beyond Edinburgh en route to Stirling, we offer tailored visits throughout the year. Prices range from £80–£200 per person, depending on the type and length of visit.
